Free Beer on September 29th, 2010

So Anheuser-Busch is reporting that their beer sales are down 10% from last year (not for my lack of helping). They also report that the “under 30″ demographic no longer sees Bud or Bud Light as “cool” anymore, but rather it’s an “old man’s” beer. So how does the company answer? They’ve approved bars and restaurants that sell Bud and Bud Light to give away 6 and 12-ounce samples ALL DAY LONG. Barring the local and state governments will allow it, of course.

So when things aren’t cool according to college kids we’re just going to give them away? Well come on, college kids, tell the world how uncool Mustangs are, or iPads or home improvement loans.

I HAVE noticed younger people at bars have found a fascination with PABST Blue Ribbon. I think this should be evidence enough that the world is doomed. Not only do they NOT like Bud Light, but they prefer the rot gut beverage that I wouldn’t feed to my neighbor’s cat (those who know understand that seeing as how I despise both).

But hey, the rest of us get to enjoy free beer on Wednesday. Where are we going for lunch? Enjoy!

What a Weekend

I don’t know about you, but my weekend was absolutely fantastic. My loving girlfriend gave me tickets to see Gary Allan at Horseshoe Casino on Saturday night. We went early to check things out and scope out a bar where we could watch UK beat Tennessee. The concert rocked, I more than doubled my money at a Craps table, then we retired for the night.

Sunday morning was a bit rough thanks to drinking enough Bud Light to float a canoe on an empty stomach. But after eating a ridiculous amount of food when we returned to Lexington, I was much better. I bought my nephew a Nerf N-Strike Vulcan for his fifth birthday. It may not be the greatest thing, but I bet his mom will hate it. Any Nerf gun that requires SIX D-cell batteries to run is alright with me!

His birthday party – at some gymnastics thing in Lexington. I was pretty excited thinking it would be like Kids Place or something, but apparently adults aren’t allowed to have fun there. I won’t recommend it.

Sunday night – dinner at Guiseppe’s Restaurant with Allyson, Dan, and Rachel. Excellent pasta, a bottle of wine, and good conversation. The weekend couldn’t have gone any better. And today: more snow which means I’m working from home. Something sadly satisfying about being able to work on clients’ websites while doing laundry…
