Tips and tricks and overall good practices to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Abundant Living Medical

WebMedley is now working with Abundant Living Medical Clinic to help increase their online exposure. If you live in Lexington and haven’t seen their television commercials or the radio spots, you must be living under a rock. I’m not going to give you the full sales speech to get you to give them your business. I’m going to tell you my experience with them.

I had a meeting with Michael Betts to discuss some advertising plans and the new website. At one point during the meeting, he asked if I had any problems with them drawing my blood to see what’s going on. I’m willing to try new things, so I figured at worst it would be a learning experience. He decided he wanted to put me on his Complete Care Plan that would cover all my vitamin/supplement needs, doc visits, blood work, etc. for an entire year. That’s a really nice perk seeing as how the CCP is $2,577/annually.

While I’m talking with Michael, a nurse comes in to draw my blood. 7 vials later, they give me a vitamin B-12 injection. B-12 works with a body’s metabolism and helps with energy production. Anyone who knows me should be able to imagine what this did to me for the rest of the day. It was awesome!

The next day I went to lunch with Michael and the guys from ALMC. They had part of my blood results back and were happy to say that my testosterone level was higher than average. Well, sort of. An average man in his early 30s has a testosterone level of 400. Back in the 1930s it was 1400. Our bodies aren’t producing as much testosterone naturally because we’re always supplementing with coffee, espresso, Red Bull, etc. ALMC has a strong focus on testosterone replenishment and rightfully so. There are a bunch of symptoms of having a low testosterone level that you can read on their website, but I was very interested in tiredness, poor sleep, anxiety, and memory loss.

The following week I went in for the full blood work analysis. All my vitamin levels are good except vitamin D, which apparently is a nationwide problem right now. My estrogen level is higher than what it should be. I wouldn’t have noticed this if they wouldn’t have told me – it’s not like I’ve got man boobs or am all emotional or anything. Everything else seems to be normal.

Side Note: the only time I joked with them about being quacks is when they told me I must not drink much because my kidney and liver functions are looking great. Me not drink much? Yeah, that’s GOT to be it… Then they confirmed they don’t believe I’m a raging alcoholic. I accept that.

“Alright, Patrick, we have two ways to handle the testosterone levels. We have a topical cream that you can apply twice a day or we can give you testosterone pellets.” I’m thinking, go with the pellets because I’m an idiot and forget things all the time so there’s no way in hell I’ll put a topical cream on twice a day. Besides, I can just take the pellets when I take the other vitamins they’re going to give me, right?

Wrong.

Dr. Phil explained to me how this was going to go down.

  1. I would get a small injection of something that would make the next shot not burn so badly.
  2. I would get another injection of lidocane to help numb my butt cheek.
  3. Dr. Phil would make a small incision on my right butt cheek and insert a hollow tube.
  4. Testosterone pellets would be added into the tube and a plunger would push them into my body.
  5. Once all of them were in, he would dress the incision and I would be on my way.

Ummm… alright then, not quite what I was expecting, but I was eager to get it done. I mean, when you go to the ALMC office, you’ll notice that EVERYONE is high energy, good moods, and rocking and rolling with the work. Yes please, I’ll have what they’re having.

The next day was a little rough. My booty was kind of sore and I couldn’t sit down normally, so most of my day was spent on the couch. The next three days things were sore. ALMC gave me some “do’s and don’ts” and I followed them so my healing process would be quick. I asked Michael via email how long it would take before I could feel a difference and he said most clients notice it in about 2-3 weeks.

About a week later, I sent this email to him:

I don’t know if the testosterone is kicking in already, if it’s the B-12, or a combination of everything, but my energy level for the past 48 hours has been awesome! I ran full throttle yesterday for 19 hours straight, slept for 5 hours, and am wide open again today!

His response:

Awesome brother…your testosterone is KICKING in :)
You won’t be supper-human…but the ride will be much more fun, energetic and focused!

For the next several days, I was running wide open for 18 hours a day on average. I’ve mellowed out a LITTLE bit since then, but a lot of that could have to do with elevated stress at work and the death of a friend. I am noticing a much deeper sleep. I usually don’t dream much at all, but I’ve had vivid dreams for the last seven nights. My energy level isn’t off the wall, but I don’t get the afternoon lull like I used to and I do have ample energy to work out when I get home. Actually, my work out routine is increasing because I’m not exhausting myself as quickly as I once was.

The other benefit I’ve seen is in my libido. Lately, my performance would rival anything I could have done in my early 20s. Yes, I am a big fan.

Whatever they’re doing, I feel better and get more done and I’m only 2 weeks in. I will continue to be a customer even after this year is up. I know it’s a touch over $200/month, but how can you put a price tag on constant energy, being able to knock down more work in a day, being in a better mood, and having increased sex drive? I’m sold.

March Madness Everywhere

This has been an interesting month to say the least. The weather has been up and down and right now, it looks beautiful outside. However, it’s only 40 degrees! That’s alright, UK made it to the Final Four. We’re gonna bring it home this year. Sorry to my Connecticut friends, but you’re going DOWN!

Let’s go topic by topic so I can do one big update…

Health/Fitness
I am now a client at Abundant Living Medical Clinic. In a nutshell, they are an all-natural pharmaceutical company. They are much more, but that will sum it up. Essentially, they draw a person’s blood and analyze it to find out what they’re deficient in. I learned a lot from them and am very pleased with the results. I’ll do a separate article tomorrow for the full story. Check them out, tell them I sent ya.

Electronics
I had to file an insurance claim with Sprint because I misplaced my Evo. The insurance company sent out an email EVERY DAY letting me know they weren’t shipping it that day since it was on backorder. The funny thing is they begin each email with, “We know how important getting your phone back is to you.” Blah blah blah, SEND ME MY PHONE. I’m going on a week now without my Evo. Luckily, I had one of my OLD Samsung phones and oh how I’ve grown to HATE it. Dear baby Jesus, send me my Evo.

That Rumblin’ Sound
I went to Lexington Custom Cycles over the weekend to check on my bike’s progress. The V-Star doesn’t even look like the same bike. It’s been lowered and now, after sitting on it to adjust, will be a whopping 4″ off the ground. The rear fender sheet metal work was pretty much done, the tank extension has been installed, and the rear lights were being done on Sunday. JR from Custom Upholstery by Jr. LLC stopped in the shop today and talked with Billy about the plan. Billy is going to build the seat pan and JR is going to pick it up in a couple of days to finish the custom motorcycle seat.

We are about 2 weeks out on the bike being complete. It would be much sooner, but after talking about paint and design with Billy, he’s got a 110-120 hour paint job planned for it. Needless to say, I’m PUMPED.

Other Motorcycle News
Kodiak Motorcycles is pretty upset with my new website, KodiakMotorcyclesSucks.com. People have come out of the woodwork to submit their stories and it’s drawing some serious attention. The site statistics far surpass Kodiak Motorcycles’ website stats and it hasn’t even been live for a month. It is becoming a success; one of our readers did receive full reimbursement from the shop after posting his story on the site and filing a complaint with the BBB. Justice will be served one way or another. :)

Other News
R.I.P. Amine Lemghaili. Some jackass decided to shoot and kill Amine who has been the cab guy I’ve used for the last four years. He was a good man, a great friend, and took care of my friends and me and I can only imagine what his wife and daughter are going through. I hope the courts serve justice. Read the article here.

On a much brighter note, I’d like to thank Alecia for keeping a smile on my face and being there for me when I needed you.

Changing the Workout

Everybody wants to get in shape at the first of the year. It’s a New Year’s resolution most people make and few keep. As many of you know, I go through phases where I will work out like crazy to get in really good shape. I don’t stick to a real diet, I just choose to eat healthy. That’s another blog post in itself.

I did change up my routine recently. Usually, I’ll lift weights for a while then do P90X. It’s proven to be a very good routine to kick my butt in gear, but P90 gets old. Not because it’s so difficult, but it’s quite a commitment to work out at least an hour a day for six days a week.

I am now simultaneously doing the P90X discs that I like (no Yoga, stretching, cardio – just weights) as well as lifting weights. I want to gain mass this time around. I dropped my reps down, too. When I’m lifting, instead of doing 3 sets of 10, I’m doing 3 sets of 8. I’ve noticed significant gains because of this: benchpress has gone up 40lbs in six weeks. I’m going to have to purchase more weight for my weight machine so I can continue going.

I’m no trainer or athlete, but this routine is working for me. It’s interesting to see rapid growth just by dropping 2 reps off each set. And now I’m going to change it again because of a conversation I had with my brother. He said he was reading that 5 reps is where the body will gain the most mass and everything else is just for endurance. I thought about that and decided to do some research. Here is one of the better articles I found that confirms it. 5-7 reps is all I’m going to do now.

Guess it’s time to purchase more weight.
