The End of 2011

2011 was an action-packed year for me, that’s for sure! January marked the month that Alecia and I started dating. It hasn’t quite been a year yet I feel like we’ve been together forever. I missed most of the motorcycle riding season due to the custom work taking forever to get done followed by a woman hitting my bike at a show. Thankfully, Insane Custom Rides was there to get it back on the road, but not before I bought another bike from their shop!

I was approached by several companies with job offers in the second half of the year. After talking it over with my brother, I decided to take a position at Resource Interactive. Family life aside, it’s been an excellent move for me personally and I look forward to a long career with them. Managing brands like Herbal Essences and some items for Pantene isn’t as intimidating as I thought! :)

The new job has allowed for personal change and growth and kicked me in gear to put a little money into the home. New television, couches, new car, fencing the back yard next week. 2012 will be the year that I get this place “finished” and ready to sell in the next few years.

2011 has been plenty stressful but has given me a clearer perspective on my life and what I want out of it. My goals are set and I’m really looking forward to the next decade of my life: a family of my own. I’m no spring chicken anymore, so I may as well reproduce and pass on all the things I know. Well, maybe just MOST of the things I know…

And I’m only making one resolution: to get my butt back in the gym. I took the entire year of 2011 off and after spending only a couple days in the gym this week, I hate myself for not sticking with it. That’s it.

Here’s to you and yours, may you bring in the New Year with someone you love surrounded by friends you enjoy!

She has been ridden dressage, jumped, and is wonderful on trail rides. She has mostly been ridden english but could easily do western too. Lily has been shown at some small hunter shows and has done very well. I have owned her for 6 years and just dont have time for her anymore. Lily is a wonderful horse that needs a good home. Nashville, Baby!

Nashville, TNDid you know that Alecia has never been to Nashville for a night on the town? As many times as she’s been, she’s never hit the country bars on 2nd Ave or Printer’s Alley. Fortunately her friends LOVE her, so her friends as well as some of mine have decided that a trip is in order.

I LOVE Nashville. We used to go twice a year just to get away and enjoy life. The energy in the streets of that town makes the 3-hour drive well worth it. And now I have two very good friends who relocated to Clarksville, so it’s going to give us an opportunity to reunite over a cold adult beverage.

Nashville is a city of culture, music, and all around southern hospitality. I learned a lot in Nashville, usually picking up useful information on each of my trips down there. For instance:

  • if Duncan smacks Johnny across the chest and Johnny wipes out a table and two barstools, one of the bars will ask you to leave even if they haven’t served you drinks yet
  • it is near impossible to have one shot and one beer at every bar on 2nd Ave and Printer’s Alley in a 4-hour span
  • The cab ride from 2nd Ave. to Best Western on 5th Ave. is only $7. A short walk yes, but uphill and under the influence isn’t much fun
  • it is okay to walk across the hood of a car if they pull in front of you and stop
  • Wildhorse Saloon CAN run out of Jager
Education is the one thing that can never be taken away from you. I’m excited to see what I learn on this trip. Wish us luck!
